Measurement and Measuring Instruments
- Measurement: A process to get information about the dimension of a body such as length, area, and volume.
- Unit: The standard quantity utilized to measure a given physical quantity.
Physical Quantities
- Definition: All quantities that can be measured are called physical quantities.
- Examples: length, mars, time, speed, density, and area.
Classification of Physical Quantities
- Fundamental Quantities: Quantities that do not depend on other physical quantities.
- Examples: length, mass, and time.
- Units: The units for these quantities are called fundamental units.
- Derived Quantities: Quantities that depend on other physical quantities.
- Examples: density, speed, and area.
- Units: The units for these quantities are called derived units.
