Setting The creation of basketball took place in a gymnasium filled with energetic college students, looking for alternatives to monotonous exercises like marching and calisthenics that offered little excitement compared to the outdoor sports they were accustomed to. Creation of the Game Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, aimed to create a game that was simple yet engaging, suitable for large groups, and provided good physical exercise without the dangers of contact sports like football or rugby. Lacrosse Goal: Introduced a target for scoring, improving game dynamics. Basic Rules: Team Composition: 5 players per team. Scoring: Field goals (2 points), 3-point shots, and free throws (1 point each). Dribbling: Players must dribble the ball while moving.
