Conservation measures- First conservationalist president- established 150 national forests and 5 national parks- furthered under Hoover who added 2 million acres for conservationism.

Roosevelt Corollary- alteration to the Monroe Doctrine- allowed America to use armed intervention in Latin America when they felt necessary- used by successors to justify intervention- movement away from isolationism and non-intervention.
Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty- gave US control of Panama canal (something no other president could achieve)- effectively turned America into economic and militaruy powerhouse.
