Key Aspects of Art Appreciation:

  1. Observation – Examining details and artistic techniques.

  2. Context – Understanding the historical, cultural, and personal background of the artwork.

  3. Interpretation – Exploring the meaning and message of the artwork.

  4. Emotional Response – Recognizing the feelings and reactions evoked by the art.

  5. Aesthetic Judgment – Evaluating creativity, technical skill, and beauty.

Factors Influencing an Artist’s Work:

  • Historical, social, geographical, religious, political, and technological factors impact artistic style.

Four Approaches to Art Criticism:

  1. Mimetic (Subject-Based) – Art as an imitation of reality (Plato, Aristotle).

  2. Expressive (Artist-Based) – Art as a medium for the artist’s emotions.
