A platform is a reusable, raised walking surface intended for temporary use. The following are
Platform Frame – A standard platform is 4x8 feet.
Platform Material – Stud grade 2x4
Platform Assembly – Joists should be installed every 24 inches. Use 3 inch deck screws.
Platform top Material – ¾ inch plywood
Platform top Attachment – 1 ⅝ inch deck screws, spaced 12 inches apart.
Platform Legs Material if Platform height ≤ 4 feet: stud grade 2x4
Platform Legs material if Platform height > 4 feet: 4x4
Required Number of legs if 2x4 frame – Install 6 legs.
required number of legs if 2x6 frame – Install 4 legs.
Cross Braces – Use for any platform over 2 feet in height
Cross Brace Material – 1x3
Cross brace Length – Ensure braces are long enough to allow attachment within 9 inches of the top and bottom of the legs.
Cross brace Attachment – Form an "X" pattern on the sides and ends of the platform.
Platform-to-Platform Attachment – Two ⅜ inch diameter hex head bolts, each secured with a hex nut and two washers. Minimum bolt length 3 ½ inches.
Weight-Bearing Guardrails – Install guardrails on platforms taller than 30 inches.
Platform Guardrails Material – 2x4 (we used 4x4s?)
Platform Guardrails Vertical Supports No less than 42 inches above top surface, maximum horizontal spacing of 48 inches.
Hollywood Flat Frame – A standard flat is 4x8 feet.

hollywood flat Assembly – Toggles should be installed every 32 inches. Use 1 ⅝ inch drywall screws.
