Safety features in Colosseum: The oval ring where the action took place was 6m deep so that nothing could reach the audience. The venue had 80 entrances for quick exits: 76 entrance arches and 4 unnumbered gates known as the Grand Entrances known as the North Entrance, the South Entrance, the Gate of Like and the Gate of death. Additionally, roller bars topped the wall separating the floor of the Colosseum from the spectators. IF a wild animal tried to leap into the crowd, the rollers returned it to the floor of the colosseum. The floor was covered in sand to soak up the puddling and smelling. This kept horror minimized. The vela prevented the audience from heatstroke.
