Client Interaction
The first step toward a professional approach is your skill in client interaction. Many esthetician schedule at least 15 minutes extra for a client’s first visit. For client consultation, these include the following:
FOCUS ON THE CLIENT
• Be genuine in your concern for your client and focus on their needs
• Give the client your full attention at all times
• Ask the client what their skin concerns are. Listen carefully before you respond
CLIENT COMFORT
• Help the client to relax by speaking in a quiet and professional manner
• Make sure the client is comfortable. Proper treatment tables and chairs are important
• Always wear disposable gloves
• Keep your nails smooth and short to avoid scratching the client’s skin
• Be aware of your touch and the amount of pressure you apply to the face
INFORM THE CLIENT
• Provide a skin analysis and educational consultation
• Explain the benefits of the product and the services you offer, and answer any questions the client may have
BE DILIGENT, ORGANIZED, AND SKILLFUL
• Arrange supplies in an orderly fashion
• Keep implements in a closed container when not in use
• Follow systematic procedures
• Measure or use premeasured products for consistency and best results
• Apply and remove products neatly, and avoid getting them in eyes, mouth and nostrils
• Do not let water or products drip down the client’s neck or in the eyes or ears
