exercises- 21%- come to class each week

discussion boards- 9% 3 discussion boards (worth 3%)

assessments- 40%- 4 assessments (each are woth 10%), usually quizzes or mini tests (NOT AN EXAM), no essays

sustainable program- 10%- $16.50 if you get 75% or more u get a certificate

group project- 20%- 3 ppl- choose a real life charity, create a sponsorship package, how to get customers to partner with this charity- choose a theme, one person does food, one does decor, one does entertainment- create the same theme as a group but focus on your main segment, (decor, food and entertainment) everyone gets a seperate grade

incentives:

  • companies that wnat to motivate their staff and make them be more productive, they wnat you to exhilirate, if u hit the target, you will earn something such as cash, merchandise- if you earn it you will get treated to a place- ‘events on steriords’- these ppl have earned it, so they will be taken to be treated

events industry:

  • business events- corporate and association

  • retail- store openings, product launches

  • sports and entertainment- tournaments, concerts, award presentations

  • governement

  • social- festivals and fairs

  • personal social- weddings, bdays, baby showers

cooperate vs association:

cooperations are companies and have employees and customers

association- ppl choosing to be part of that association, ppl want to connect, meet ppl within that industry, networking, have members

different types of event planners:

  • independent planner

  • work on your own or work for an event planning company

  • client: any person or company

  • hired on contract, paid by client

plan events for a ‘particular’ company:

  • employee

  • client: your employer. plan events for any department within the company

  • salary-based, paid by the employer ]

plan for events for a particular venue:

  • client: any person or company

  • salary/commission, paid by employer

it is important to make things memorable at an event, add aspects to an event- creating special experiences is vital. e.g. decor has to be amazing, food has to be interesting- make it MEMORABLE, not boring

7 stages of an event:

  • learn about the event

  • research the event (Dig)

  • design of the event

  • plan for the event

  • coordinate the event

  • Execute the event

  • Evaluate the event
