*Region- Is a group of countries located in the same geographical specified area, organize to regulate and oversee flows and policy choices.

*Regionalization- the process of dividing an area into smaller segments called Regions.

*Regionalism- A political process characterized by economic policy cooperation and coordination among countries.

*Globality - the end-state of globalization.

*Globalism – a national policy of treating the whole world as a proper sphere for political influence. Compared with Imperialism and internationalism.

*Global cities are:

•post-industrial

•brain hubs and centers of a “knowledge

economy”

•Network economies and spillover effects include “thick labor markets “ in knowledge workers.

•major nodes in the interconnected systems of information and money , and the wealth that they capture is intimately related to the specialized businesses that facilitate those flows.

*Characteristics of Global City:

•high degree of urban development

•a large population

•the presence of major multinational companies

•a significant and globalized financial sector •well developed and internationally linked transportation infrastructure

•Local or national economic dominance

•high quality educational and research institutions

• a globally influential output of ideas, innovations, or cultural products
