Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC): This is the primary decision-making body of the Fed.
FOMC decisions are typically reached by a strong consensus or complete agreement among members after reviewing evidence.
At a recent meeting, there was one dissenting vote, notably from an appointee of President Trump who also serves as the chairman of economic advisers to the president. This individual was temporarily on the board due to a governor stepping down.
The FOMC's analysis aims to be non-political, focusing purely on economic evidence.
