Shifting curves to the right:

• pH decreases

• Increase in CO2 and lactic acid

• Increase in H+ (and therefore decrease in pH)

  • A decrease in pH changes haemoglobin structure which decreases its affinity for oxygen

    • Therefore at the same ppO2, kore O2 releases

    • Therefore more oxygen is available
