1. The ball needs to be completely outside the perimeter lines to be considered “out”. (the line is in)

2. The ball needs to be completely over the goal line to be a good goal.

3. There are 11 players on the field at one time for a team.

4. A goal kick is taken when the attacking team is the last to touch the ball before it goes over the end line. (taken from the 6…or 6 yards out from the goal.

5. A corner kick is taken when the defending team is the last team to touch the ball before it goes over the end line. (taken from the nearest corner to where the ball went out)

6. A throw in occurs when the ball goes out of bounds on either sideline. (the team that didn’t touch it last gets the throw in)

7. Upon release of the ball during a throw in both feet must be in contact with the ground and both hands must be directly over the head.

8. The dimensions of a soccer field are approximately 120 yards long by 75 yards wide.

9. Another name for the penalty box(goalie box) is the “18” because it is 18 yards out from the goal line.

10. Another name for the goal box, where a goal kick is taken is the “6”.

11. The goalie is the only player on the field who can use his/her hands and they can only do so when they are inside the “18” or goalie box.

12. The goalie can not pick the ball up with his/her hands if the ball was kicked back to them by their own player.

13. A direct kick is a free kick that can be kicked directly into the goal without touching another player. (tripping, pushing, holding, or hand ball.

14. An indirect kick is a free kick that must be touched by another player before it can go into the goal. (obstruction, delay of game, the kickoff)

15. Any part of the arm is considered a “hand ball” and if this occurs the opposing team gets a direct kick from where the hand ball took place.

16. Positions: Line – 2 Strikers, 2 Wings (they play offense)

Halfbacks – 3 Midfielders (they play offense and defense)

Fullbacks – 3 Backs (they play defense)

Goalie – 1 (defense)
