Prevention of Chemicals Injury to the Fetus (SDA)
I. Safe Storage of Poisons
Poisons must be stored in well-marked containers.
Preferably stored under lock and key.
II. Drug Safety Evidence
Evidence for the safety of drugs must be established before use during pregnancy.
III. Avoidance of Self-Administration of Drugs
Self-administration of drugs and chemicals should be discouraged during childbearing years.
Important to note that pregnancy may not be recognized during the first semester when fetal injury (phocomelia) commonly occurs.
