Psychology - The scientific study of behavior and mental processes

\ Social - How we influence and interact with other people

\ Developmental - Changes in capacities throughout the life span

\ Personality - How our traits/characteristics influence our behavior

\ Cognitive - Human mental processes (e.g., memory, intelligence, problem-solving)

\ Learning/animal behavior - Fundamental processes such as sensation, perception, motivation, and learning (usually study these in animals)

\ Neuro - How underlying biological, physiological, or neurological mechanisms relate to behavior (may do surgery on animals, or use MRIs with humans)

\ Industrial/Organizational - Behavior in the workplace; improving businesses in areas such as personnel, organizational efficiency.

\ Clinical - Diagnose and treat difficulties such as depression, anxiety, etc. (vs. psychiatrist, who has an MD and can prescribe meds)

\ Counseling - Counsel people facing challenges (e.g., career decisions)

\ Health - Interdisciplinary (social/clinical) - coping with stress, promoting healthy behaviors

\ Forensic Psych - Psych and law (cog/social/clinical) - eyewitness memory (cog), influence jury (soc), mind of psychopath (clin)

\ Sports Psych - Cog (mental preparation), social (group behavior), physio (max performance)

\ Political Psych - Psych applied to political issues (attitudes, voting behavior)
