BECOMING BY THE INDWELLING OF THE Holy Spirit

We as human beings are made up of 1. Spirit, 2. Soul 3. Body. Your spirit, soul and body are interrelated. One cannot work without the other. So your spirit gives life to your soul and your body.God made your spirit a vessel so that you can contact and contain God. So the way in which we communicate with God is by our spirit. It’s important for us to know that the level to which we can access the things of God is dependent on the extent to which we exercise our spirit (fellowship with God), soul (mental processing) and body (exercise). You cannot get more from the spirit realm than your spirit is able to contain. If you exercise your spirit, but not your mental processing, you will still struggle to access things. Your world is as big as your mental capacity.

In psychology, we understand that people operate through schemas—mental frameworks that organise information. These schemas determine:

  • What you notice

  • What you ignore

  • How you interpret events

  • How you respond

If your schemas are narrow, your experienced world is narrow. Expanding mental processing allows you to revise and expand these schemas.

The same goes for spiritually, if your capacity to understand, interpret information whether spiritually or not is limited, your perceived possibilities are also limited

Stephanie Ike’s glove analogy

  • A glove is made in the image of a hand, so it can contain the hand

  • What the glove does the hand is doing, if the hand points the glove points

  • The glove was designed in the image of the hand so that it can host the hand

  • When God created us in His image and likeness it was so that you can host him

  • We are the glove

  • The Holy Spirit is the Hand

  • The glove is made in the image of the hand

So the only way that we can keep in contact with God, and have God as a part of us is through the help of the Holy Spirit. So if you’re born again here, God resides in your spirit man.

  • Many people adore Jesus but we don’t understand that it is the power of the Holy Ghost that made Jesus, Jesus

  • After we become saved, we have that same Holy Spirit inside of us

Who is the Holy Spirit?

  1. The Holy Spirit is God, He is not like God

  • The difference between God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is not the power and might but their functions

  1. The Holy Spirit is the limitless presence of Jesus, it is the Holy Spirit that makes it possible for every believer to receive Christ

  • When Jesus walked upon the Earth, He could not be everywhere at the same time

21-22 Martha said, “Master, if you’d been here, my brother wouldn’t have died. Even now, I know that whatever you ask God he will give you.”

  • In His earthly ministry, He chose to take on human form — meaning He was in one place at one time.

  • So at that time, Jesus was limited physically, however as Sons of God and daughters of God, the Holy Spirit (Jesus in Spirit) dwells in us

  • So we can no longer say: ‘Lord, if you had been here’ because the Spirit of God is always here

John 14 :16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

To as many as received the Holy Spirit, it is the Holy Spirit that empowers them to become the person that God created them to be. After the Holy Spirit enters you, there are things that may not have come to you naturally before that He empowers you to be able to do but you must BELIEVE that he has the power to empower you to do. However, you must first know what the sons of God are capable of, to strive to be like them. It is the discovery of who you are as a son/daughter of God from the scripture that enables us to walk in that truth

Luke 4:14 - Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

  1. The Holy Spirit is God, He is not like God
