Describe the major traits you share with each of your siblings. What major traits are very different between you and your siblings? (If only child, compare/contrast with parents.)
I am an only child to two parents. My mom and I share a lot of the same traits; so much so that we creep everyone out. We share the same eyes (sight included, but my mother got her eyes fixed), the same face shape, and everything down to the freckle under our right eye. The cool thing is, my mother, my grandmother, and I almost look identical. we’ve been told we look like the same person in different parts of life. I do get a few details from my dad. My wonderful dad passed down his miraculously tiny ears and height.
Which traits are biologically based, and which traits are the result of your environment?
My physical traits are entirely biological. My personality, my humor, my athleticism, and my learning capability are the result of my environment. I grew up spending a lot of time with my mother so I picked up a lot of her traits and personality (We are both very petty and share the same sense of humor). With that being said, I also get a lot of personality from my dad (my love of comics, and movies for example). My athleticism is something I received from both of my parents. They pushed me to try many different sports, but since they were both runners, I think I fell into track due to their influence.
How do you explain differences between siblings, given same parents and same family?
Differences in siblings can come from a multitude of factors. Some parental traits can get separated and divided into each child in different amounts. For example, one child should have the mother’s eyes but pick up their personality from spending a lot of time with their dad. Every sibling will have some aspect of each of their parents in them. Differences also arise based on how the child is raised. Most older children were the “practice“children. Their personality is most likely going to be completely different than their younger sibling because of this factor.
