This policy establishes procedures for processing civilian clothing used by incarcerated persons.
Applicable for individuals approved for jail passes and attending jury trials.
II. POLICY
Incarcerated persons may wear civilian clothing only for court appearances in jury trials or during temporary jail passes.
Storage of Clothing:
Jury clothing and clothing for passes are securely stored.
Items stored in specified facilities consistent with current practices.
Deputy Sheriffs:
Same-gender Deputy Sheriffs will observe clothing changes during the process.

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Receiving and Exchanging Clothing with Visitors
Authorization: Incarcerated persons must authorize the release of their clothing.
Complete an Incarcerated Person Property Release Form.

Visitor must sign the form; custodial personnel will also sign and attach it to the booking sheet.

C. Jury Trial Clothing Guidelines
Search Requirements:
Custodial personnel will search jury clothing prior to provision to incarcerated persons.
Two sets of clothing are allowed, specifically:
Approved: shirt, pants, socks, shoes, sports jacket.
Belts and ties given at the courthouse and returned to the attorney.
Changing Procedure on Trial Day:
Incarcerated persons change into jury clothing in designated areas (not in cells): holding cell, dress-in room, or multipurpose room.
Secure Process for Maximum Security Housing:
Incarcerated individuals in maximum security use secure locations; a Deputy Sheriff observes through a window.
Custodial Protocol Post-Trial:
Upon return, incarcerated persons change back into facility clothing; searches are applied.
Place personal clothing in the clothing bag for staff to secure.
