Introduction to Immunizing Pharmacist Certification Program (IPCP) by the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA)

The Immunizing Pharmacist Certification Program of the Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc. is an innovative initiative that took seven years to develop and finally achieve accreditation in March 2021.
This extensive timeline reflects a significant collaboration between various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies, all of which recognized the vital role pharmacists play in immunization efforts.
The program was established as a response to legal mandates necessitating pharmacists to be equipped with immunization knowledge and skills, promoting public health through vaccination.
Due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Levels 1 to 3 of the program are conducted entirely online.

Level 4, however, consists of a face-to-face supervised skills assessment, ensuring that participants can demonstrate their competencies in a controlled environment, which is crucial for patient safety and effective immunization practices.

Moreover, fourth-year pharmacy students who aspire to become certifiably immunizing pharmacists are given the opportunity to partake in mock skills assessments prior to their internship.
