Bible Narrative – Key Promises & Fulfilment

Memory Verse

  • “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘yes’ in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:20

Creation

  • God spoke the universe into existence; worked for 6 days, rested on the 7^{th}.
  • Forming:
    • Day 1 – light vs. darkness
    • Day 2 – sky vs. sea
    • Day 3 – land vs. sea + plants
  • Filling:
    • Day 4 – sun, moon, stars
    • Day 5 – birds & sea-creatures (blessed)
    • Day 6 – land animals & mankind
  • Humans: “very good,” God’s image, blessed to multiply & rule earth under Him.

Fall

  • Serpent deceives Eve; Adam follows; they eat forbidden fruit.
  • Consequences: shame, fear, exile; curses on serpent, childbirth, work, and death.
  • Promise: Eve’s descendant will crush serpent’s head (serpent will bruise his heel).

Abraham & Sarah

  • God calls Abram to leave home; promises land, countless offspring, global blessing.
  • Abram trusts; at 99 (Abram) & 90 (Sarai) names changed to Abraham (“father of many”) & Sarah.
  • Son Isaac (“laughter”) born—first step toward fulfilled promises.

Moses & the Exodus

  • Abraham’s descendants (Israelites) enslaved in Egypt.
  • God appears to Moses (burning bush); vows to free people & be their God.
  • 10 plagues culminate in Passover: lamb’s blood spares firstborn.
  • Red Sea: pillar of fire protects; sea parts; Israel crosses; Pharaoh’s army drowns.
  • God delivers His people as promised.

The Kings

  • Israelites demand a king; forget God’s rule.
  • Saul anointed: impressive warrior, yet disobedient.
  • David, “man after God’s heart,” defeats Goliath; God promises eternal dynasty—son to build temple & rule forever.
  • Solomon: famed for wisdom, wealth, temple building; dies, so promise looks beyond him.

Jesus

  • Fulfillment of all promises: serpent-crusher, worldwide blesser, eternal King.
  • Virgin Mary conceives by Holy Spirit; names child Jesus (“saves”).
  • Jesus fully God & man; miracles: water→wine, feeds 5000, calms storm, heals sick, raises dead.
  • Arrested, crucified under Pontius Pilate; innocent death pays for sin—evil defeated, world blessed.
  • Rises on 3^{rd} day; appears for 40 days; ascends; sends Holy Spirit.
  • Alive forever—reigns as promised Son of David.
