Imagery and Similes
IMAGERY
Imagery is the use of words to create pictures or images in the readerâs mind. They appeal to the five senses: smell, sight, touch, hearing and taste. Theyâre six types of imagery:
Sound Imagery
Smell Imagery
Sight Imagery
Taste Imagery
Touch Imagery
Example: The catâs fur was as soft as feathers
SIMILES
A simile describes one thing as being another. Similes often use âlikeâ and âasâ. They can make your writing more interesting and help the reader imagine what you are describing.
Example: The snow covered the house like a blanket, She was as tall as a mountain
