Epistemology
In epistemology, there is truth, beliefs and knowledge. Knowledge is in the intersection of truth (i.e. what is objectively known to be true) and beliefs (i.e. what is subjectively assumed to be true).
What is a Memoir?
A memoir is a historical account or biography written from personal knowledge or special sources.
A memoir is a narrative, written from the perspective of the author, about an important part of his or her life.
A memoir is understood to be as factual as memory permits.
Characteristics of a Memoir
A memoir focuses and reflects on the relationship between the writer and a particular person, place, animal or object.
A memoir explains the significance of the relationship between the particular person, place, animal or object as it relates to the author’s epistemology.
Unlike an autobiography/biography, a memoir is limited to a particular phase, time period, place or recurring behavior in order to develop the focus fully on the author’s beliefs/experiences/knowledge.
