Advantages to compression:

• Faster to download upload and transfer the files.

Lossy Compression:

• Data is permanently removed

• Computer that uses lossy decompression will never be exactly the same as the original

• Lossy can be used with images and sound- removing will not impact the users experience

• 1 color for 9 pixels- reduces file size by about 90%

• MP3 compression will remove sounds that the human ear cannot hear- reduces file size by about 90%

• JPEG is a file type that uses this type of compression

Lossless compression:

• No data is lost

• Less effective than Lossy compression

• PNG is a file type that uses this type of compression

• 2 IP is a file type that uses this type of compression
