War without end??

When does the war really end?

• Germany knocks Russia out of war

• by 1918 last push to defeat Britain and France (but as of 1918 US now in war too)

• by oct 1918 german generals know war is lost

  • fear revolution with Germany, fear a collapse could open door to Russian-style communist revolution in Germany

THEREFORE german generals ask allies (BR, FR, US) for a ceasefire. Allies also fear of prolonging war so agree, effective Nov 11 1918
