America did was attack the British colonies US lost and had to give up. city of Detroit but September 18, 1813 things turned around for America we came out with a victory at battle of Thames William Henry Davison led the us forces and defeated the native Americans led by tecumseh.

August 24 1814 the British attacked Washington DC and burned the capital and white house.

September 12-15 1814 the British were gaining ground during the battle of Baltimore they bombarded fort. Mc Henry but the us held it out causing the British to withdraw this was the turning point in the war of 1812
