Evidence and Interpretation: Records (evidence) and how we analyze them (interpretation).

Primary Sources: The raw materials upon which all historical conclusions are based.

Secondary Sources: Any historical account constructed from primary and other secondary sources.

Questions we must ask while analyzing evidence

• Can we trust the source of information?

  • These include: Authentic artifacts and qualified authors on the topic

• Do the sources provide relevant evidence to the questions we hope to answer?

• Does the evidence support the interpretation offered?
