Episode 3 - Adding Alarms
Alarm Groups
Purpose: Organize multiple alarms for easier management.
Capacity: Each alarm group can contain up to 999 alarm channels.
Function: Each channel contains specific instructions for actions when an alarm is triggered.
Application: Useful for managing buildings or departments, especially when different messages are required for distinct buildings.
Setting Up an Alarm Group
Accessing Setup: From the setup menu, select alarm setup.
Creating a New Group:
If no group exists, click "add new alarm group".
Enter a name and click "add new alarm group".
Default Database: Alarm in use is located in the Lynx Key Pro alarm group.
Viewing Channels: Click on the alarm group name to see the channel list.
Alarm Window Structure
Sections:
Left Section:
Configure alarm details (e.g., add images, sounds, PDF files).
Contains alarm channel configuration.
Channel Numbering:
Start numbering at zero zero one (001).
Channels 000 and 990+ are reserved for supervision alarms (notify about server errors/hardware disconnections).
Middle Section:
Enter the text for Subject and Message.
Use of Macros:
Macros modify alarm handling or insert information during alarm activation.
Can include computer names, IP addresses, logged-in usernames, location information, etc.
Right Section:
Access the output device box where alarms are sent upon activation.
Adding Output Devices:
Click on the output device box to reveal buttons (add, configure, remove).
Click "add" to choose devices from your pre-created contact list.
Testing and Previewing Alarms
Testing:
Click the test button in the left section to send the alarm to selected contacts.
Previewing:
Click the preview button to see alarm presentation without sending it.
Neither test nor preview includes location information since they originate from the alarm setup page.
Saving Alarm Configurations
Once the alarm is configured, click the "save" button located at either the top or bottom of the screen to finalize settings.
