Rose to Power: After the war Italy did not get all the promised land. Mussolini was enraged by this a created a fascist party known as the Black Shirts.
Description: he was charismatic, a strong man, not communistic, ultra-nationalism
Promise: end corruption
Political Control: Allowed Facsit party to pass any laws (Acerbo Law); state controls everything.
Secret police: OVRA
Party/system: Fascist
Religion: Atheist, but allowed the Vatican to be a sovereign Nation (Lateran Treaty)
Military: Arrest without trial, death penalty for crime against state.
Education: Facist Rhetoric, military
Youth: Military youth groups to create devoted loyalty
Censorship/Propaganda: no free speech, spread fascist ideas + Mussolini's accomplishments, “El Duche” (the leader), “believe, obey, fight, and if anything was said that went against the state you would be arrested.
Economic Control: Fascist leader controlled ALL banks, trade, major industries (steel, oil, mining) and Agriculture
Social Control: male-dominated public and political life, women honored to have many kids (14), divorce outlawed, bachelor tax for unmarried men, the state is the ultimate guardian of the family
Minorities: Radical, ethnic, religious, and polictical minorities oppressed
