Skull (Cranium) & Facial Bones

The human head contains 22 bones in total, divided into two groups: The Crainum and Facial Bones.

CRANIUM (SKULL)

The cranium is a an oval, bony case that protects the brain. There are 8 cranium bones.

Occipital Bone: The back of the skull above the nape.

Parietal Bones (2): The sides (sort of) and crown (top) of the cranium.

Frontal Bone: The forehead

Temporal Bones (2): The sides of the head in the ear region.

Ethmoid Bone: The light spongy bone between the eye sockets that form part of the nasal cavities.

Sphenoid Bone: The sides of the eye sockets and joins all the bones of the cranium together.

(The Ethmoid and Sphenoid bones are not affected when performing services or giving a massage.)

FACIAL BONES

There are 14 bones of the face:

Nasal Bones (2): The bridge of the nose

Lacrimal Bones (2): The smallest and most fragile bone of the face, are situated at front inside of the eye socket

Zygomatic Bone (2) also called Malar Bones or Cheekbones: Form the prominence of the cheeks.

Maxillae (Maxillary) Bones (2): The upper jaw

Palatine Bones (2): Form the roof of the mouth

Mandible: The lower jaw, the largest and strongest bone of the face.
