A risk factor is a thing a person can do to increase the risk of getting a disease. this only increases the chance though it does not guarantee anything.

Diseases can be communicable and non-communicable:

  • communicable —> diseases that can be spread

  • non-communicable —> diseases that cant be spread

So one factor Is if you are in close contact with someone with a communicable disease.

Here are some more factors, if it is a disease that can’t be spread like cancer, or diabetes:

  1. LIFESTYLE

    • diet

    • age

    • mental health

  2. ENVIRONMENT

    • global warming

    • pollution

    • asthma

  3. SUBSTANCE IN THE BODY

    • radiation

    • drugs

    • alcohol
