      • For example, a prescription requiring just 5 mg of felodipine to be taken once a day may be accurately dispensed by a pharmacist using precise instruments.

      • However, for a patient, this quantity is not only challenging to manage but may also be easily lost.

    • Physical Characteristics:

      • Certain drugs have undesirable characteristics, such as unpleasant taste, odor, or texture, that can make them unpalatable.

      • By developing these drugs into various dosage forms, it becomes possible to mask these features, thereby improving patient compliance and satisfaction.

    • Weight and Size:

      • Increasing the overall weight or volume of the product can be beneficial, especially in cases where the small quantity of the drug's active ingredient is hard to handle.

      • This not only makes the drug easier to consume but also helps patients visually confirm their dosing.

    • Palatability:

      • An important aspect of dosage form design is improving the palatability of the drug.

      • For instance, liquid formulations can be flavored to make them more enjoyable to take, which is particularly crucial for children or patients who may have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.
