How to Pass a Law

The process on how to pass a law in accords to the US Constitution is as follows:

→ A bill is introduced by the Members of Congress

→ Majority vote by the House of Representatives is needed to pass the bill (218 / 435 = just over 50%)

→ Majority vote by the Senate is needed to pass the bill (51 / 100 = just over 50%)

→ If the bill is vetoed by either the President, House of Representatives or the Senate, the Congress has authority to override the veto with 2/3rds vote majority.

→ If the bill is accepted by the House of Representatives and the Senate, the President must sign for ratification in 10 days. The President also has the option to veto the bill or the bill will be vetoed itself if not signed for in 10 days.

How to Amend the Constitution

Even though amendments are always added and never changed, the process on how to the amend the US Constitution is as follows:

→ 2/3rds of state governments / legislatures must propose a new amendment to the Constitution

→ Supermajority vote by the House of Representatives is needed to pass the bill (2 / 3rds = just over 66% = 290 / 435 members)

→ Supermajority vote by the Senate is needed to pass the bill (2 / 3rds = just over 66% = 67 / 100 members)

→ If ¾ of the US states agree to ratification of the bill, then it is established.

How to be Voted President

The process on how to be voted as president is determined by electoral college votes, which is made up of 538 votes. These votes are based on state size / population. As each citizen votes by state, there is 50 separate competitions, meaning the electoral candidate must win majority of states’ votes. If the electoral candidate wins majority in one state, all votes go to that electoral candidate, no matter if some were not in favour of them.

How to be Removed as President

Although there has been no impeachment and removal of President from office, the process on how to be removed as president is as follows:

→ Be accused of high crimes and misdemeanours such as bribery and treason as President

→ Majority vote by the House of Representatives is needed to pass the impeachment

→ Supermajority vote by the Senate is needed to pass the formally remove and ban the President. The Senate then votes on the punishment for the President to receive (2 / 3rds = just over 66% = 67 / 100 members)
