Scene 14

  • Instead of Mick telling Nancy that she needs to learn her lesson, what if he tells her to keep it in moderation?

    • She does still need to live a lavish life, but it needs to be kept in check so that this star doesn’t die too

  • Nancy nods and runs down the SR platform stairs to her dressing room during a scene change

Scene 15

  • Transition music

  • The vanity gets rolled on SL, as the cast and crew member start running lines and going over blocking during rehearsals

  • Rosie and Wanda enter Nancy’s dressing room, doing some prep for the run

  • Nancy asks Rosie & Wanda what her mom would do to get into character

    • She tells them she needs to know EVERYTHING about her behind the scenes so that it can come through on screen

    • She also reveals that she is really nervous about the live show, and what if people start to play spot the difference?

  • Rosie & Wanda tell Nancy that it’s good nobody recognized her at the bar.

    • They reassure her that they will always make sure that her hair and makeup holds up so that people don’t suspect a thing

  • Nancy, Rosie, & Wanda sing a trio song called “Spot the Difference,” in which Nancy is asked a series of questions about her mom, and must answer them

    • Rosie and Wanda prep her for any and all questions

    • Towards the end, the questions get really dark

  • Nancy by the end of the song starts freaking out

    • Rosie & Wanda open a drawer with some hidden liquor bottles

    • They give her two to calm her down, just like her mom used to

  • Nancy thanks Rosie & Wanda, and Cedrig runs in telling Nancy that they need her onstage as soon as possible

  • Nancy heads up the SR platform stairs to the stage

  • Mick directs Nancy, Cory, & Mabel in a short scene, he sees that Nancy is picking things up a lot faster

    • He calls down to Rosie and Wanda, and says whatever you did to her, keep doing!

  • Mabel or Cory can make a comment like “A little alcohol will do the trick”

  • Mick tells Nancy to roll with it because it’s making her more believable

  • Mick makes a final announcement for everyone to get ready for the live show that night

Scene 16

  • Transition music

  • The cast parts ways

  • Isaiah’s house gets rolled on SR with Isaiah on it

  • Nancy runs down the platform stairs to backstage where she changes into a beautiful dress (the one she put on as Middle Nancy)

  • She enters through the center hallway to show off her look

  • Isaiah recalls when Sandra wore the dress and tells her she looks beautiful

  • Nancy tells Isaiah thank you, brushes past him towards the refrigerator, takes a swig out of a liquor bottle, puts it back, and leaves

  • Isaiah calls after her, “I’ll be watching”

  • Nancy runs up the platform stairs to greet Mick, Cedrig, and the other cast members

    • Isaiah’s house gets rolled off SR

  • The stadium chairs and ropes as well as people and paparazzi start rolling in

  • Nancy starts to get nervous, Mick calls to Rosie and Wanda and tell them to give her something to calm her down

    • Rosie and Wanda come up the platform stairs and give Nancy pills and liquor

  • Nancy thanks them, and they leave

  • Mick announces to the audience that they have a great show for them tonight, and he tells Nancy to take it away

  • Nancy sloppily acts as her mother did, giving them a speech similar to what her mom would have said

  • The audience cheers as the beginning players take their positions on the platform

    • The screen rolls down and starts projecting the theme song in color

  • A brief “Spot the Difference” Reprise is sung by audience members, as moments are shown on the screen from the show

    • The final scene circles in to stop, and the song is over

    • The audience cheers, and their chairs and ropes are rotated to face in towards center stage, the red carpet rolls out

    • The screen rises

  • The cast and crew walk down center stage on the red carpet

  • The cast and crew briefly sign autographs

  • Someone from the audience asks Sandra where the party is

    • Nancy replies the bar that she’s headed to after, and tells everyone to come with her

Scene 17

  • Set & music transition into the bar

  • Nancy stands on a table with a drink and starts to sing a song about her lavish lifestyle

    • The song will be portrayed as a montage, several parties after several live shows

    • Costume changes

  • During this, Isaiah’s house gets rolled on SL

  • New headlines appear on the screen, revealing Nancy at these parties, and behind the scenes

    • Between each sung interlude, Isaiah picks up a different headline throughout the house, revealing the headlines on the screen

    • Nancy will have costume changes when those headlines appear

    • Every time there is a new “headline,” the song goes along with it

    • Nancy becomes Sandra

  • At the end of the song, Nancy says that she needs to get home to Isaiah

    • The crowd questions if she’s back together with Isaiah Walker, and she says that she is

  • Nancy exits DSC through the hallway

  • Nancy enters through Isaiah’s front door

    • Isaiah is sitting on the couch watching the television

  • Nancy asks, “Whatcha readin?”

  • Isaiah replies, “You.”

  • Nancy says “Oh, do I look gorgeous?”

  • Isaiah asks, “We’re back together?”

  • Nancy replies, “I am living with you”

  • Isaiah tells Nancy that he’s scared for her, that she’s becoming too much like Sandra

  • Nancy retorts and says isn’t that what everyone wanted? Nancy did, Mick does, the audience does.

    • Nancy tells Isaiah that ratings are high. “I bring a young energy back to television”

    • Nancy tells Isaiah that Mick is proud of her.

    • Isaiah says “I’m not.”

  • Isaiah tells Nancy that he is going to go with her to the live show to make sure that she doesn’t make bad choices afterward

  • Nancy tells Isaiah that he can’t tell her what to do, that this is her life

    • Nancy brushes past Isaiah to her room

Scene 18

  • Set & music transition

  • Isaiah’s house & television set gets rolled off SR

  • Mick walks up the platform stairs to the top of the platform

    • He questions where Sandra is

  • Nancy stumbles in, wearing sunglasses, a pretty dress, and holding a bottle of liquor

  • Nancy sloppily tells everyone that she has arrived, and that they can start rehearsal for the live show

  • Cedrig informs Nancy that the live show is in an hour, and people have already started arriving

  • Nancy tells Cedrig that she knows her stuff from the past two days of rehearsal

  • Cedrig tells Nancy that he’s going to have to get cue cards for her because she decided to party every night instead of learning

    • Cedrig tells Nancy that even though ratings are up from the headlines-”innocent girl on screen, party girl off set” vibe, that she needs to get her act together so that she doesn’t actually end up like her mom.

  • Nancy says something in a “Sandra” voice back

  • Ensemble members file in the hallway, trying to make out what she says next

  • Nancy yells at the cast and crew, telling them that they are not doing enough for the show

    • Very egotistical monologue. She’s the star

  • Nancy ends the monologue with that she is going to her dressing room to get ready

    • Rosie & Wanda slowly follow behind her

  • The lights go out and the screen rolls down

    • Isaiah’s house gets rolled on SL with Isaiah on it

    • An article flashes on the screen-”Live Show Audience Member Hears Backstage Drama”

  • Isaiah picks up a paper from his table

    • He mutters, “I can’t lose her too”

  • Isaiah dials 911, a dispatcher shows up in the center hallway, a single spotlight on the dispatcher

  • The dispatcher asks “911, what’s your emergency?”

  • Isaiah tells the dispatcher that there is a scandal going on at “Sally’s Surroundings,” and that he needs to tell the truth.

Scene 19

  • Isaiah’s house gets rolled off SR with him on it

  • The dispatcher exits

  • Nancy’s vanity gets rolled on SL

  • Nancy dissmisses Rosie and Wanda, informing them that she’s got the lines

  • Nancy stares at herself in the mirror

    • She recites a couple lines, a couple facts, she reapplies lipstick and really stares at herself

    • “See, I’m just like you. I am you.”

  • Pounding on the door (hallway)

  • Nancy yells back, “One minute Cedrig!”

  • The cop tells Nancy that they are coming in

  • Nancy turns around in her chair to see that cops are in her dressing room

    • Mick and Cedrig follow behind them

  • Mick questions why they are there, and the cops search

  • The cops ask Nancy if she is who she says she is

  • Mick, the cop, & Nancy go back and forth trying to get answers

  • Nancy assures the cops that she is Sandra

    • She says a monologue about everything she knows about Sandra, but slips up and says something revealing that she is Nancy

  • The cops handcuff her and tell her she’s under arrest for identity theft

  • Mick & Cedrig also get handcuffed

  • Nancy pleads that she is Sandra

  • The cops split up to get the others

  • Mick, Nancy, and Cedrig are pushed through the hallway in handcuffs

    • Music interlude

    • Blue & red flashing lights

    • Ensemble members back up out of their way

    • Lights are dim

Scene 20

  • Set transition into the questioning room

  • Nancy is behind the table facing center, with the cop on the SR side

  • The cop questions her intentions behind the act

  • Nancy confesses in a monologue that she always wanted to “be” her mom, and Mick and Cedrig gave her the opportunity to do just that

    • She never meant to cause any harm

  • The cop tells her that those are all the questions they have for her, and lets her know that her trial will take place soon

  • The cop tells her to wait in the room until she is dismissed

  • A moment of silence…Nancy looks around the room…she closes her eyes

  • Sandra’s house, the television set, & the couch gets rolled on SL, the intro to the theme song is being played

  • Little Nancy skips on, singing the first part of the theme song

  • Middle Nancy comes on through the SR hallway and sings the second part of the theme song

  • The three come together on a line before Nancy sings by herself, “Sally, what’s surrounding you?”

    • The three look to the audience as the song trails off

  • The lights except for a spotlight on Nancy go out

  • Blackout
