2. Harmful Mutations

Sickle Cell Anemia:
Morphology: Red blood cells lose their standard round shape and take on a "sickle" or crescent-like shape.
Mechanism: Due to this shape, the blood cells are unable to properly attach to hemoglobin, the protein responsible for carrying oxygen.
