hormones

  • Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothryrionine (T3)

    • regulate metabolism and body heat production and control cellular oxygen usage and maintain blood pressure

      • too much- hyperthyroidism, heart palpations, muscle tremors, and increased metabolism

      • not enough- hypothyroidism, decreased metabolism, goiter, and fatigue

  • Calcitonin

    • reduced the calcium levels in the blood

      • too much- decreases bone loss, decreases Ca in blood

      • not enough- reduced bone density
