⛲️ Groups
Group 1 - Alkali Metals
Very reactive (need to lose 1 electron)
React with water → metal hydroxide (an alkali)
More reactive as you go down the group → more shells
LITHIUM:
fizzes releasing gas
Moves around surface
Gets smaller
Floats
SODIUM:
More fizzing
Faster reaction
Silver sphere
Yellow flame if you stop it from moving
POTASSIUM:
Most fizzing
Shortest reaction time
Burns with a lilac flame
Group 7 - Halogens
Greek for salts :D
They are DIATOMIC
Very reactive
less reactive as you go down
metal + hydrogen → metal halide (salt)
Hydrogen + halogen → hydrogen halide
Displacement reactions (for these i think u need the reactivity series)
Group 0 - noble gases
Nobility dont do anything
Inert → don’t react easily due to full outer shell
Uses::
→ lighting neon
→ welding argon
→ light bulbs filament
