3. Explain the Zoroastrian religion using the following terms Ahura Mazda,  Ahriman, and Avesta.  How was this religion different from other religions in that region at the time? (12) SL 13

Zoroastrianism is an ancient religion from Persia that centers around the belief in one god, Ahura Mazda, who represents all that is good, light, and truth. In contrast, Ahriman, the evil spirit, embodies darkness, chaos, and lies. Zoroastrians believe that life is a constant battle between these two forces. The religion's teachings are written in the Avesta, a holy book, which guides followers on how to live a righteous life. What made Zoroastrianism different from other religions at the time was its belief in only one god (monotheism), while most other cultures believed in many gods. It also emphasized the struggle between good and evil, giving people the choice to do what is right or wrong.
