Gene pool: collection of alleles in all of thr individuals of a population.
Allele Frequency: the proportion of one allele, compared with all alleles for that trait, in the gene pool.
Mutation: a change in the DNA sequence of an organism.
Recombination: the process where pueces of DNA are exchanged between chromosomes.
Hybridization: breeding two different organisms usually from distinct species ir genetuc lineages.
Gene flow: movement of alleles from one population to another.
Genetic drift: the change in frequency of an existing gene variant in the population due to random change.
Bottleneck effect: genetic drift that results from an event that drastically reduces the size of a population.
Founders effect: genetic drift that occurs after a small number of individuals colonize a new area.
Reproductive isolation: final stage in speciation, in which members of isolated populations are no longer able to reproduce.
Speciation: evolution of two or more species from one ancestral species.
