The mathematics portion of the PHUMA is divided into four primary blocks: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics/Probability. Arithmetic covers operations with real numbers, proportionality, percentages, the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD), and the Least Common Multiple (LCM). Algebra focuses on quadratic equations, linear inequalities, and algebraic patterns. Geometry requires proficiency in understanding angles, calculating the perimeter and area of triangles, applying the Pythagorean Theorem, and determining the surface area and volume of geometric solids. History of Honduras focuses on the Independence, the Central American Federation, the banana enclave, the late 20th century, and Neoliberalism. Universal history addresses ancient civilizations, major revolutions, and modern global conflicts. Geography concerns socio-demographic indices and the global time zone system (Husos Horarios), utilizing standards like UTC or GMT. For example, calculating arrival times between Honduras (GMT-6) and Spain (GMT+1/GMT+2) requires accounting for both flight duration and seasonal time changes (summer vs. winter). Civics emphasizes the Constitution of the Republic and Human Rights, including specific constitutional guarantees like Habeas Corpus. Sociology explores political sociology, social stratification theories, and social institutions such as the family and schools. Philosophy and Anthropology investigate the value of philosophical knowledge and theories regarding human origins and the culture of Honduran peoples.
