Tropical rainforest
Tropical rainforest are found in-between the tropics and along the equator. The biggest rainforest is the Amazon rainforest. The rainforest are hot because they are located closest part of earth to the sun but also the rainforests are also very rainy. This is caued by warm, moistair which is drawn from the oceans, the hot and wet air rises whilst colling causing convectional rainfall also low pressure causing raising air.
Soils:
Nutrient rich - due to rapid recycling of the nutrients and quick uptake again from plants. Nutrients do not infiltrate deep into the soil due to surface runoff removes nutrients.
Nutrient poor- they are red due to iron
Plants:
The high levels of sunlight and rainfall allows for photosynthesis that supports a huge amount of plant growth. The first layer of ground is called the forest floor then it next floor is understory after is the canopy and then the emergent layer.
Animals:
Abundant food, shelter and warmth means a disserve range of animals
lots of plants species for animals to eat
Thick canopy offer protection from predator
The layer of the forest offers lots of habitats
Water:
Input= water added
Output= water leaving
Rain causes 100% of water to be inputted
The leaves of a tree causes 50% of water to be outputted transpiration(evaporation thought leaves)
The bark of a tree cause 25% output runoff (into rivers)
The soil 25% outputted evaporation(from ground/soil/rivers)
Without trees there would be less transpiration leading to flooding.
Humans:
Some indigenous tribes use the rainforest
Can also be used for farming, logging, mineral extraction and energy development
