Cell Structure

What are cells?

• They are the basic building blocks of life
• Defined as ‘the smallest unit of life that can replicate independently
• They divide into 2 cells then 4 cells
• Whereas bacteria is a whole organism so when it replicates it’s undergoing asexual respiration
• Plant and animal cells are multicellular organisms (contains lots of cells)
• Bacteria cells are unicellular organisms (single celled)
