Byblos - Sold Papyros, Byblos is meaning of book.

Ethical Dualism - Man has free will but there is a fight between good vs evil to get thier right. The Angel on one shoulder and Devil on the Other shoulder

Promised Land - Land promised to Jews that this land belongs to them and god promised them this.  Chosen People because god loves them the most and more than other people.

He started the construction of Temple of Jerusalem

  1. What caused the Jewish kingdom to split into two separate kingdoms, known as Judah and Israel?


POlitical Difference after the Death of Solomon they split into Kingdom of Israel with 10 tribes and Kingdom of Judag in which their is Jerusalam. Northern Kingdom was conquered by Assyrians and Southern Kingdom was conquered by Babylonian Captivity

Scatter and then they are lost to history. They don’t practice Judaism openly

  1. What is the Babylonian Captivity? 

They were kicked from their homes but this was significant because they started writing the torah and writing their oral traditions down.

God Protects people and people follow his laws


  1. What is meant by Mosaic Law and how is it different than most law codes?

Divine revelation of god is written in mosaic law and this integrates religious, civil and moral laws instead of being a man made system

God protects Israel from slavery and Israelites agree and uphold god’s laws on Mount Sinai


  1. What (General) message did the Prophets come to emphasize with the ancient Israelites according to the text and class?

They emphasized that ancient israelites should return to faithfulness and tells them that they have broken their promises to god but also reminds them that there is hope for redemption.




  1.  What is meant by the Jewish diaspora?

Dispersion of Jewish People from theire homesland and how they have settled in other parts of the world.



  1. What is the Ark of the Covenant?

A gold wooden chest that has 2 stones tablets which inclue ten commandments given to moses by god..It has 10 commandments, Manna heavenly bread and the staff of AARON that could change rocks and stuff into water fountains
