Priority Strategies
When to Call the Dr. Strategy
STEP 1:Look at each answer and determine if they are in the scope of practice of a nurse
STEP 2: Do I have an answer that helps me solve or answer my client’s question?
If YES, Do it!
STEP 3: If the answers are not within the scope of practice of a nurse or they do not help the patient’s problem (Eliminate)
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Strategy
STEP 1: Determine if the answers are a mixture of physiological or psychosocial responses
Physiological: body functional choices
Psychosocial: emotions, feelings, mind stuff, PAIN IS PSYCHOSOCIAL
STEP 2: Eliminate all PSYCHOSOCIAL ANSWERS, Physiological will be the priority
STEP 3: Do the remaining physiological answers make sense
STEP 4: Apply ABCs
