MARIANO “ANOY” AMAR CATAGUE - depicts the Lumads in his figurative paintings raise awareness in the social injustices the narratives are experiencing

RAMEER TAWASIL - often uses vibrant and bold colors and makes use of indigenous Muslim motifs inspired by the okirs of the Maranao

SAUDI AHMAD - his subjects are often genre paintings of community life, with his figures garbed in colorful and detailed costumes

BERT MONTERONA - is known for his innovative use of indigenous materials for his art, specifically for his tapestry paintings and bamboo stick paintings

LAHING BATANGAN DANCE TROUPE - is a fold dance company based in Batangas and is the official folk dance company of the Lyceum of the Philippines University

BARASOAIN KALINANGAN FOUNDATION INC. (BKFI) - is the resident theater group of Bulacan

KONTEMPORARYONG GAMELAN PILIPINO (KONTRA-GAPI) - is the local ethnic music and dance ensemble of the College of arts and letters of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD)

JOSE GOMEZ - is known as the “Music Man of Samar”. He is considered to be the most productive composer of Samar songs and wrote more than 5,000 compositions

KABATAANG SILAY RONDALLA ENSEMBLE (KSE) - is composed of the less fortunate youths of the Silay community and they serve as promoters of the city’s rich traditional folk dance and music

UNIVERSITY OF VISAYAS CHORALE (UVC) - is the official choir of the UV and is one of the most multi-awarded choir in the Philippines. Created in 1999 as a way to give opportunities and grant scholarships to musically gifted students

AMAL LUMUNTOD - one of the best kulintang players in Maguindanao.

MEBUYAN BAND - Composed of 18 female artists based in Mindanao which started from a theater and musical group project in 2001

KABPAPAGARIYA ENSEMBLE - is a theater group dedicated to promote culture and the arts

AWARDS: Recognized as Gawad CCP sa Sining Awardee

SINING KAMBAYOKA ENSEMBLE - is the treater company of the Mindanao State University and is the only Filipino-Muslim folk theater company in the country

AWARD: Gawad CCP Para sa Sining for Performing Arts in 1997

BAYANG BARRIOS - is a Filipina musician who is a member of the ethnic group Manobos. She created an albun “Bayang Makulay” with the help of her husband Mike Villegas

Visual Arts

Media - refers to the material and tools used by an artist, composer or designer to create a work of art

Commissions - financial compensations given to artists to create an artwork

Awards - given to artists to recognize a single achievement or the career as a whole

Criticism & Scholarship - two most related aspects in the production of art, whether visual or performing arts

Art Criticism - evaluation of an artwork based on its artistic merits, its historical and cultural importance

Art Scholarship - orderly organization and study of art, whether it is the actual artwork itself, the artists, or its art form

Art Education - is the transfer of knowledge, skills, and art appreciation from a teacher to a student

Formal Education - pertains to the teaching done in the specified venue such as school

Composition - traditionally referred to as the practice of creating a notated score and its completion through the interpretation by music artists

Recording - is the process of creating multiple copies of music to be distributed to the public

Preproduction - is the process in which producers and their staff would decide upon a concept or music

Production Phase - wherein the actual music is created

Postproduction - is devoted to the promotion, marketing, and selling of the finished products

Music Industry (industry) - is the business of selling recorded music

Choreography - This is a part of dance that arranges and manipulates movements, formations, words, music, sets, props, lights, and dancers to express an idea or narration.

Gabbok - a dance to pray for a child’s well-being

Pagdidiwata - a dance to implore the spirits for an abundant harvest

Dance Steps - combinations of human actions and movements such as walking, sliding, running, leaping, jumping, etc.

Design - This is the aspect of production in the performing arts that deals with visual materials such as sets, props, costumes and, lights

Directing - This is the complete supervision and managemen of the different elements in theater production

Director - person responsible for the final artistic outcome of the theater production

Acting - is the art of embodying a character

Stanilavsky method - described as understanding the true quality of each emotion through one’s observation

Strasberg method - described as being the character in and outside the stage

Brechtian school of acting - portrayed the characters in a critical manner rather than in its emotional state

Script - is the literal translation of a play or drama

Playwright - person who writes the scripts for plays

Sets - refer to the scenes and props for the physical representation of the setting, period, and time

Costume - a theatrical production aspect deals with the distinct attire a character wears during the performance

Lighting - the use of light in a theater production

Translation - conversion of a foreign play to the vernacular

Adaptation - reinterpretation of the play according to local cultures and traditions to make it more relatable to the audience
