Economic Immigration
Skilled worker class: This is a potential skilled worker immigrant that will be judged on a point system based on what is in demand. They need a minimum of 75 points to qualify and if one family member qualifies they all do. Certain things will earn more points than others. For example, high demand is doctors, engineers, business executives etc. or people with high level education.
Skilled Trade class: This category is targeted to attract immigrants with a specific trade or skill experience. specifically ones that are in low supply in canada. This could include blummers, electricians, mechanics, loggers and miners. This class relies on a pass or fail system not a points system based or four conditions
must have a job offer in Canada
have strong enough language skills to do the job
have 2+ years of experience
be qualified for the job by Canadian standards
Canadian experience class: This is for immigrants who have legally worked in Canada under a temporary worker program for a minimum of a year. This is also a pass or fail system but they are not required to get a job offer in Canada.
Start up visa: This applies to people who want to start a business in Canada and they must meet four criteria to be accepted.
must show that approved Canadian investors will fund their business idea
must demonstrate a high understanding and fluency in either English or french
must have at least one year of post secondary education
must have enough money to support themselves until their business can provide for them
Temporary Foreign worker: This is where Canada grants work permits for temporary foreign workers. Many people can qualify for this. This can vary from pro athletes, maybe playing on a Canadian sports team or other workers doing jobs where we are lacking and need people (farms and agriculture) . Some people end up staying after their work experience and others often end up going back to their home country.
Social and Humanitarian Immigration
Family Class: This is when citizens or permanent residents of Canada sponsor family members in the process of immigration and they would sponsor that person. Depending on the relationship the length of financial commitment can range from 3-10 yrs
Refugee: all countries have a responsibility to accept refugees. These are peo;le who move to another country in fear of their safety in their own country (war) each refugee claim is judged on its merits depending on the severity of the situation.
