 If we are going fight climate change effectively, we have to acknowledge that most our economy is based on fossil fuels which are coal, oil, and natural gas. 

2. oil powers most of the transportation sector,  coal and natural gas power most of the electricity. 

3. There is no such thing as clean fossil fuel. 

4. If climate stays at the temperature it’s been the past decade greenland going away.   

5.  97 % of scientists agree that the globe is warming and the climate is changing due to fossil fuel burning and other human activities. 

6. China has recently passed the United States as the world’s number one polluter.     

7.  China is still heavily relying on fossil fuels but they seem to be transitioning to renewables much  faster than anybody could have anticipated. 

8.  About 30% of households in India don't have access to electricity. 

9.  The US has been the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases in history. 

10.  One billion people depend on fisheries from coral reefs for most of their protein.

11.  In the last 30 years 50% of all coral has been lost.

12. The oceans absorb carbon dioxide and take up 1/3 of the co2 dumped into the atmosphere acting as a stabilizing force, but the problem is the ocean can't do its job with the absurd rate of carbon dioxide emissions.

13.  In Indonesia fires are being intentionally set in order to create palm oil plantations which grow the cheapest vegetable oil in the world.  

14.  In the US 47% of land is used for food production and of that 70% is used to provide feed for cattle.  Cows produce methane which is a powerful greenhouse gas. 

15.  Every molecule of methane is equivalent to 23 molecules of co2 and nearly all of it is due to livestock.  

16.  Unless there is a price put on carbon we'll never be able to make the transition in time, the only way to do that is a carbon tax.

17.  We are on average moving towards 40 degrees warmer this century. We haven’t been to this level of warming in 4 million years.
