Infectious Diseases

Pathogens is the transportation of the path of diseases; it transports the diseases from one individual to another. 

The infectious disease is caused by pathogens that is passed from one organism to another; its a disease that can be transported from one person to another. 

Some bacteria are not bad or as dangerous as others as they eat cells found inside the body which in fact helps the body. Those bacterias are responsible in eating the cells that are duplicated. 

Pathogens move from one human being to another human being. 

 

Kochs experiment ;

  1. The scientists realized that there was a pathogen inside a rat, so they took a sample, a blood sample where they then isolate it for a few days without any contact with any blood cells or animals.

    1. After a few weeks, they took this blood sample and injected it into the healthy mouse. Where after a few days, the mouse died. So, they took the dead mouses blood cell and compared it to the first mouses blood cells; where the pathogen was found to be the same. 

    2. They kept it outside for a few weeks for them to check if these pathogens or viruses could be infected to other animals while being isolated for a while. 

The experiments main idea to solve was to figure out if a pathogen or a disease could be transmitted without being in a living organism 


Pathogens that cannot be grown in pure culture means that they cannot be isolated; they are transmitted directly either by blood, injection, or forcefully. 

Sexually transmitted diseases, and they are transported sexually as they have to be injected in or forced in, therefore transmitted directly. Such as STDS, syphilis, and so on.

Although there is numerous microorganisms found all over the world, found in surfaces, on humans, or anywhere; only a few of those can cause diseases. Some might cause a mild disease and some might cause a serious disease. 

For a pathogen to spread, it must have both a reservoir and a way to spread.

Mild disease and serious disease are two types of diseases.

Mild disease is a disease that is small virus, for example, flu or cold. 

Serious disease, for example, is cancer and its the disease that are very hard to get rid of and affect the body. 

There are three ways people can spread the virus, and can hold viruses. 

  1. Vectors, having numerous, but the main being transporting or carrier insects. For example mosquito’s and ticks. Is when animals or insects bite are the insects that transmit viruses; they collect this disease when landing on infected materials or surfaces. Some of the diseases transported by these vectors include Hyme disease and Malaria disease. 

    1. Plants and animal reservoirs, such as rabies, are when animals infect humans with disease by bites, or attacks. Such as when a dog attacks a human when infected by rabies, making the person bitten dangerously in risk of catching this disease if without any solution. 

      1. Humans reservoirs, which are the main reservoirs or containers for pathogens that affect and disrupt the human life. Numerous pathogens could be passed from one host to another without the host knowing that he/she has that disease. An individual that carries a disease but is symptom free and could transport this disease is called a carrier. 

        1. Other reservoirs, include contaminated waters or food. Contaminated water that is used in planting food could contaminate the food which carries the pathogens and then on infects living organisms (humans, plants, animals, etc.)  

Pathogens are transmitted in two different ways, direct contact or indirect contact.

  1. Direct contact, with other humans, is one of the major methods of transmission of pathogens. One of the most common ways of direct contact is sexual transmission. Sexually transmitted diseases are transported directly in a sexual way, by being injected or forced into the human body.

    1. Indirect contact, is when pathogens are passed without physical touch or forced entry. For instance, pathogens could be passed though the air. When a person sneezes or coughs, pathogens can be passed down along with tiny mucus droplets which is where the infectious disease is transported in.

How the diseases invades the body:

The disease starts in a cell, where it begins to grow and grow, where due to that the cell eventually bursts. The disease then starts to spread from one cell to another, aiming to defeat the body.

  • Symptoms are the things that show such as coughs, sneezes and other things. 

  1. Toxins that are produced by some pathogens can affect the host and its system. Some types of bacteria invade and live inside the cells of the host, causing damage. Therefore, because the cells are damaged, they might die, which might cause the host to show symptoms of the disease. 

  • Immune system is responsible for defeating and blocking the diseases from attacking our body.  




The 318,856 are the amount of reported people living in a place that have been accounted in the United States.; Not the people who have been accounted for the Lyme disease. 

However, in the second number, it illustrates that 33,461 people have this disease. 

The first row illustrates the area or the place that holds the resident and diseases holders. The second row illustrates the total residents located in that place or and area. 

We are not able to identify if Lyme is a serious disease or a mild disease since the percentage of deaths from this infected are not given; which doesn’t provide information on how sustainable or dangerous it actually is. 

There is a very big difference when a person says its a serious or mild disease with spreading faster or slower. For example, the flu is a mild disease but spreads faster.

However, you can know how dangerous or serious a disease is by looking at the death rate. The more the deaths, the more serious the disease is. 

These common diseases are called endemic diseases, such as the flu, since a small number of incidents are continuously found in an area or a place. 

  


For example. If a place, for instance, Manama has a disease, this is called a endemic disease as only that area has that kind of disease. However, if that disease spreads to the whole country, this is called an epidemic. But, if it spreads to the whole world, making it a world problem such as COVID-19, its called a pandemic.

  1. An endemic disease is a disease that spreads in a small number. 

    1. An epidemic is a larger scale of area than the endemic with more spreads. 

      1. A pandemic is described as a world wide problem, is where the disease spreads over a country or a large region.


Treating and fighting diseases

Antibiotic is a medicine that fights the diseases; its a medicine that is the last level of medicine. 

Antibiotics is when you reach a level where you need to take it; when no other medicine can control the disease and the body cant fight or control itself against the disease.

  • With normal medicine, you ask the pharmacy for medicine while antibiotics you have to get a prescription since its labelled as a drug that could make people addicted. 

Antibiotics have a limited amount of pills, the maximum days are 10 days; However, if you still need it, you need a prescription from the doctor to take it again. Yet, If you start taking antibiotics, you cannot stop taking it until the pills finish; as every antibiotics pill has a prescribed role towards the body and without it, the procedure wont be complete. 

For example, antibiotics are bromphen and penicillin; It depends on the body, if the body can handle the disease then antibiotics are not needed.

Penicillin is made up from fungus, its a chemical that fights the bacteria.
