3 Types of gland stimulation/ Interaction of Hormones at target cells

  • the three types of gland stimulation- hormonal, humoral, and neural

  1. hormonal stimuli- endocrine gland is probed into action by other hormones

  2. humoral stimuli- something is measured and endocrine gland activated because of a change in measurement

  3. neural stimuli- endocrine gland is directly activated by a nerve pathway

  • permissiveness- one hormone cannot exert its full effects with another hormone being percent

  • synergism- more than one hormone produces the same effects at tiger cells; together effect are amplified (addicted)

  • antagonism- one hormone opposes the actin of another
