Flashcards for LET GenEd Objective
- Objective: To help students review and reinforce key concepts from General Education subjects for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
- Creating flashcards helps students identify challenging concepts, improving recall and understanding.
Instructions for Creating Flashcards
1. Select Concepts
- Review topics covered in LET preparation for General Education Subjects.
- Identify a minimum of 25 challenging concepts or topics, including:
- Items missed in previous quizzes.
- Key terms or definitions.
- Important theories or models.
- Complex processes or steps.
- Historical facts or events.
- Common mistakes or misconceptions.
- Ensure a mix of subjects for comprehensive coverage.
2. Create Flashcards
- Use physical cards, specifically 1/8 sized index cards.
- Front of the card: Write the concept name, term, or question.
- Example: "What are the components of the Philippine Constitution?"
- Back of the card: Write a clear and concise definition, explanation, or answer.
- Example: "The Philippine Constitution consists of the Preamble, Bill of Rights, National Territory, Declaration of Principles, and State Policies."
- Include examples or illustrations to aid understanding.
- Bind the Cards Together
- Securely bind flashcards to prevent misplacement, but ensure detachment for easy flipping during review.
- Use a hole punch and ring binder for detachable binding, allowing cards to be separated and reviewed as needed.
3. Make It Engaging
- Use color coding, diagrams, or symbols to make flashcards visually engaging and memorable.
- Include mnemonics or memory aids to facilitate faster recall.
4. Review and Self-Test
- Use completed flashcards for regular self-quizzing.
- Focus more time on difficult concepts and revisit them frequently to reinforce learning.
5. Submission
- Submit flashcards on May 07, 2025.
- Create a title card with your name and section code on the front.
- Late submissions will result in demerits.
Rubric for Flashcard Activity (50 points)
Concept Selection (/10)
- Excellent (10-9 points): 25+ highly relevant, challenging concepts covering a wide range of topics.
- Good (8-6 points): Most concepts are relevant and challenging, with a reasonable balance of topics.
- Needs Improvement (5-3 points): Some concepts are too easy or irrelevant.
- Unsatisfactory (2-0 points): Very few relevant or challenging concepts selected.
Flashcard Content Accuracy (/10)
- Excellent (10-9 points): All flashcards are accurate with clear, concise definitions/explanations and no factual errors.
- Good (8-6 points): Most flashcards are accurate, with minor errors or omissions that do not affect understanding.
- Needs Improvement (5-3 points): Some flashcards contain errors or incomplete explanations, making the content unclear or misleading.
- Unsatisfactory (2-0 points): Many flashcards contain errors or are inaccurate, making them unhelpful.
Creativity and Design (/5)
- Excellent (5 points): Visually engaging, using color, diagrams, symbols, or mnemonics to aid memory and understanding.
- Good (4 points): Neatly written, with some use of design elements (color or simple diagrams) to aid memory.
- Needs Improvement (3 points): Functional but lacking creativity or use of design elements to improve recall.
- Unsatisfactory (0 points): Poorly designed or difficult to read.
Organization and Clarity (/5)
- Excellent (5 points): Well-organized and easy to understand, with concise explanations and no unnecessary information.
- Good (4 points): Mostly organized and clear, but some cards may have a little excess information.
- Needs Improvement (3 points): Somewhat disorganized or have long explanations that detract from clarity.
- Unsatisfactory (0 points): Disorganized, with unclear or confusing explanations.
Completion and Effort (/10)
- Excellent (10-9 points): All 25 flashcards are complete, showing strong effort in selecting difficult concepts and providing detailed explanations.
- Good (8-6 points): At least 20 flashcards are complete, showing good effort in selecting difficult concepts.
- Needs Improvement (5-3 points): Less than 20 flashcards are completed, or there is a lack of effort in selecting and explaining difficult concepts.
- Unsatisfactory (2-0 points): Fewer than 15 flashcards are completed, with little effort to make them useful.
Review and Self-Testing Strategy (/5)
- Excellent (5 points): Actively used for self-testing and organized to facilitate easy review and improvement.
- Good (4 points): Used for review but may lack a clear self-testing strategy or organization.
- Needs Improvement (3 points): Created but not consistently used for review or self-testing.
- Unsatisfactory (0 points): Not used for self-testing or review.
