Sunni and Shia
Sunni Muslims believe that Abu Bakr (Muhammad´s father in law) was the rightful successor of Mohammad, elected to be their leader (caliph) and whose job it was to enforce the Quran and the Sunnah. Sunnis follow the 6 articles of faith.
Shia Muslims believe Ali (Muhammad´s first cousin and son in law) was the rightful successor of Muhammad, elected tho be their leader (imam), each imam had to be a descendant of Muhammad. Shias believe in the 5 roots of Usul adDin.
The key difference is in the idea of accountability. Both believe Allah will judge humans on judgement day, however Sunnis believe in God´s supremacy and hope God´s will is in their favour, whereas Shias believe they are more in control of their actions.
