Incident Response First Steps

(Size-Up)

1) Measure the nature and magnitude of the incident.

2) Take note of hazard and safety concerns that personnel or the public may face.

3) Take note of injuries and casualties.

4) Secure and isolate the area.

5) Determine initial priorities and immediate resource requirements.

6) Establish location for an Incident Command Post and Staging Area

7) Establish and entrance and exit route for responders.
